The 2027 BMW 3 Series Starts at $49,900. Here's What America Gets and When

BMW priced the eighth-generation 3 Series: $49,900 for the 330, $65,900 for the 437-hp M350 xDrive, and $61,500 for the electric i3. All four versions go on sale in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2027.

BMW has put U.S. prices on the eighth-generation 3 Series, and the entry fee barely moves. The new 330 starts at $49,900, the 437-hp M350 xDrive at $65,900, and the electric i3 50 xDrive at $61,500. BMW of North America says all four launch versions go on sale here in the first quarter of 2027.

Those are base MSRPs. Every version adds a $1,350 destination charge, according to BMW's U.S. announcement, which puts the 330 at $51,250 and the M350 xDrive at $67,250 delivered. The M350 replaces the M340i, and we covered the M350 xDrive's hardware and its Drift Moment mode earlier this month.

2027 BMW 3 Series Prices

Base MSRP, before the $1,350 destination charge:

  • 330: $49,900
  • 330 xDrive: $51,900
  • i3 50 xDrive: $61,500
  • M350 xDrive: $65,900

What the Extra Money Buys

The four-cylinder cars cost $1,900 more than the models they replace. BMW's U.S. site lists the outgoing 330i from $48,000 and the 330i xDrive from $50,000, both before destination.

The engine output doesn't change. The new 330 keeps a 2.0-liter turbocharged four with 255 hp and 295 lb-ft, paired with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance and an eight-speed automatic. BMW quotes 0–60 mph in 5.9 seconds, while its U.S. site lists 5.6 seconds for the current 330i.

What changes is everything around the engine. The sedan adopts the Neue Klasse design it shares with the electric i3, a 17.9-inch central touchscreen, BMW's Panoramic Vision display across the base of the windshield, and Operating System X. Optional Highway Assist allows hands-free driving on suitable limited-access highways at up to 85 mph, as long as the driver keeps watching the road.

The six-cylinder math is different. The M350 xDrive makes 437 hp and 428 lb-ft, up 51 hp and 30 lb-ft on the outgoing M340i's 386 hp and 398 lb-ft, and BMW quotes 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Its $65,900 price is $1,600 above the 2026 M340i xDrive, which Edmunds lists at $64,300 before destination. All-wheel drive is now mandatory, though. The rear-drive M340i started at $62,300, so the cheapest six-cylinder 3 Series now costs $3,600 more.

The Electric i3 Undercuts the M350

The i3 50 xDrive slots between the two gas cars. Its two motors make 463 hp and 476 lb-ft, and BMW quotes 0–60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The company estimates 446 to 468 miles of range, based on its own preliminary testing under EPA procedures. On a 400-kW DC fast charger, BMW says the i3 can add 191 to 208 miles in 10 minutes.

At $61,500, the sedan costs exactly as much as the iX3 50 xDrive crossover, which carries an EPA rating of up to 434 miles. It's $11,600 more than a 330 and $4,400 less than an M350 xDrive, and no federal incentive narrows the gap: the $7,500 EV tax credit ended a year ago. The i3 is on our list of every new EV coming to America in 2027.

Same Look, Different Cars Underneath

The gas 3 Series and the i3 share a design and a cabin, but not a platform. The i3 rides on BMW's dedicated Neue Klasse EV architecture with 800-volt electrics. The gas car sticks with an evolution of BMW's existing CLAR platform, according to BMWBlog. Even the dimensions differ: the i3's 114.1-inch wheelbase is 1.5 inches longer than the gas car's.

They come from different plants, too. BMW began series production of the i3 in Munich in August, while the gas models move to Dingolfing, where production starts in November. BMW has also published supply-chain emissions figures for both cars, and we broke down how the two compare.

What We Don't Know Yet

  • EPA ratings. None of the four versions has one yet. The i3's range is BMW's own estimate, and the gas cars have no official fuel-economy figures.
  • The delivery month. BMW says only that the U.S. launch begins in the first quarter of 2027.
  • A plug-in hybrid. BMWBlog reports that a PHEV will join the lineup in 2027. BMW of North America hasn't said whether it's coming to the U.S.
  • A Touring and an M3. BMW hasn't detailed a wagon or an M3 based on this generation.
  • Drift Moment timing. The M350's rear-drive mode arrives by software update during 2027, including for cars already delivered. BMW hasn't given a date.

What's Next

BMW says the i3 M60 xDrive joins the lineup in 2027. The other open items are EPA ratings for all four launch versions and a firm delivery month. We'll update this story as those details arrive.
