BMW Prices the F 450 GS From $6,995 — and Gives the US Three Versions Instead of One
The 420cc adventure bike reaches US dealers in early 2027 in three trims topping out at $8,195, with BMW's self-engaging Easy Ride Clutch standard only on the GS Trophy

BMW Motorrad USA has priced its smallest adventure bike. The 2027 F 450 GS starts at $6,995 before destination, and US buyers will get three versions instead of the single GS Trophy model BMW promised when it unveiled the bike last November. Sales are expected to start in the first quarter of 2027.
The headline is a parallel-twin GS priced against single-cylinder rivals. It sits at the opposite end of BMW's range from the limited-run M 1000 RR Isle of Man TT Edition the company detailed last week.
Three trims, one engine
Every version uses a new 420cc parallel twin rated at 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 32 lb-ft (43 Nm) at 6,750 rpm. Its crankpins are offset by 135 degrees, and a balance shaft runs ahead of the crank to cut vibration. BMW quotes a road-ready weight of 393 pounds, a 33.3-inch standard seat, 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds, and a 102-mph top speed.
- F 450 GS ($6,995): Cosmic Black with cast wheels. Cornering ABS, traction control, three riding modes, heated grips, and a 6.5-inch TFT screen come standard.
- Sport ($7,795): Racing Red. Adds a two-way quickshifter, a fork adjustable for rebound and compression, an Enduro Pro mode, hand guards, and a touring windshield.
- GS Trophy ($8,195): Racing Blue with a white frame. Adds an aluminum engine guard, a rally windshield, and the Easy Ride Clutch. An $800 Enduro Package swaps in cross-spoked wheels.

A clutch you don't have to use
The Easy Ride Clutch is the bike's most unusual piece of hardware. It is a centrifugal unit that engages as revs rise. Combined with the quickshifter, it lets a rider pull away, change gear, and stop without touching the clutch lever, which stays on the bar for manual override.
Most centrifugal clutches slip when the throttle closes. BMW says this one stays locked on overrun, so engine braking holds until the bike has almost stopped. Base and Sport owners can add it as an accessory, but BMW hasn't said what that will cost.

How it stacks up
The F 450 GS takes over from the single-cylinder G 310 GS, which listed at $5,695 for 2024, according to Motorcycle.com's spec data. That makes the new bike $1,300 dearer, but it has 14 hp more than the old 313cc engine's 34 hp. Like the G 310, it is built by partner TVS Motor, which began production at its Hosur, India, plant late last year.

Its most obvious US rivals are singles. Royal Enfield's Himalayan 450 lists from $5,999, about $1,000 less than the base BMW, and weighs 432 pounds fueled. KTM's 390 Adventure R lists at $7,699, which is $704 more than the F 450 GS, though the KTM's longer-travel suspension and 21-inch front wheel aim it more squarely at dirt.
What's still unknown
BMW hasn't disclosed the destination charge or an exact on-sale date. Europe also gets a fourth, Exclusive trim that isn't listed for the US. For now, the GS Trophy is the only way to get the clutchless setup from the factory.
