Dodge's Durango Smokescreen Concept Goes on Sale — Minus Most of the Concept
The $595 gray paint is now available on every 2027 Durango, and $2,995 Petrol Blue seats are reserved for the Hellcat Jailbreak. The concept's Cryo Blue graphics and wheels stayed behind.

Dodge has turned two pieces of its Roadkill Nights show car into options you can actually order. Smokescreen, a light gray paint, is now available across the 2027 Durango lineup for $595. Petrol Blue Laguna leather performance seats join the SRT Hellcat Jailbreak's order sheet at $2,995.
Both debuted in August on the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen Concept. Smokescreen is the Durango's third new color in roughly three months, following Redeye and After Dark, the deep metallic blue Dodge added in September. It brings the palette to 10 shades.

What made the cut, and what didn't
The concept was more than a paint job. Dodge's original Roadkill Nights announcement listed Cryo Blue graphics sweeping down the bodyside with an integrated "392" badge, 20-by-10-inch forged Y-spoke wheels in matching Cryo Blue, amber daytime running lamps, Cryo Blue mirror caps, and body-color brake calipers. Inside, it added a suede-wrapped steering wheel and carbon-fiber trim.
None of that is part of today's announcement. Dodge is selling the base color on its own and pitching it as a lighter alternative to the existing Destroyer Grey.

The seats took a detour, too. The concept was an R/T 392, but Petrol Blue is reserved for the Hellcat Jailbreak. The seats get dual silver stitching and embossed SRT Hellcat logos. They come only in the six-passenger layout, with second-row captain's chairs and a full-length console between them.

Dodge CEO Matt McAlear was unusually candid about why the concept existed in the first place. He called it "a pretty thinly veiled way of testing the waters" and said the reaction at the event sped up the company's plans.
Small options, steady headlines
Paint has become Dodge's main way of keeping an old SUV in the news. The current Durango dates to the 2011 model year, yet demand has held up: The Drive reported in April that Durango sales rose 48 percent in the first quarter of 2026, the model's strongest first quarter since 2021.
The Jailbreak's configurator tells the same story. Dodge quoted more than six million possible builds for the 2026 model, and After Dark pushed that past 16 million. With Smokescreen and Petrol Blue added, the company now claims more than 20 million.

Every 2027 Durango has a HEMI V-8, so Smokescreen is offered on the 360-hp GT HEMI AWD, the 475-hp R/T 392, and both 710-hp SRT Hellcat models. Ticking both new boxes on a Jailbreak adds $3,590 to the sticker. Appetite for HEMI-powered Stellantis products isn't limited to Dodge: Ram just sold out the Ram 1500 Rumble Bee 5.7 through March 2027.

Next up is Dodge's broader Color Jailbreak program, also previewed at Roadkill Nights. It promises custom factory paint for more Charger and Durango buyers at a lower entry price. Dodge has said full details will come later this year but hasn't announced pricing or timing.
