Dodge Adds After Dark Blue to the Durango — Its Second New Color in a Month
After Dark, a $595 deep metallic blue, becomes the ninth color for the 2027 Durango — arriving just a month after Redeye as Dodge leans on paint to keep its best-selling model in the news.
Dodge has added a ninth exterior color to the 2027 Durango lineup. Called After Dark, the deep metallic blue is open for orders now across every version of the V-8-powered three-row SUV at a U.S. MSRP of $595 — and it's already the second new Durango shade in a month.
According to Dodge, the finish changes character with the light: metallic highlights show up in direct sun, while the dark base turns more subdued after sunset. After Dark is available on the 360-hp Durango GT HEMI, the 475-hp R/T 392, and both 710-hp SRT Hellcat variants, including the Jailbreak.
On the Jailbreak — the trim that lets buyers mix and match paint, stripes, wheels, badges, and interior appointments — Dodge says the new color pushes the number of possible build combinations past 16 million. For the 2026 model, the company quoted more than six million.
Paint is Dodge's product cadence now
After Dark lands exactly one month after Redeye, a bright crimson previously reserved for the Charger, joined the Durango palette on August 4 — also at $595. The Charger has been getting the same treatment: Dodge added Red Oxide and Purple Haze earlier this summer, then unveiled Sucker Punch and Shady for the Charger Super Bee Launch Edition at its Roadkill Nights event in August, along with new tinted dual stripes.
The steady drip of color announcements makes more sense in context. The current Durango hasn't been fundamentally redesigned since the 2011 model year, yet it's selling better than it has in two decades: more than 81,000 units in 2025, up 37 percent, with first-quarter 2026 sales climbing nearly 50 percent to over 20,000.
Much of that traces back to the 2026 lineup overhaul, when Dodge made a HEMI V-8 standard across the range and cut the SRT Hellcat's starting price to $79,995. The company calls the GT HEMI the most affordable AWD V-8 vehicle on the market and the Hellcat the most powerful gas SUV ever built. For a vehicle this deep into its life cycle, $595 paint options are the cheapest way to generate fresh product news — and the sales numbers suggest buyers don't mind.
The full 2027 palette now runs to nine colors: After Dark, Redeye, B5 Blue, Destroyer Grey, Green Machine, Night Moves, Pitch Black, Red Oxide, and White Knuckle. Dodge hasn't tied After Dark to any package or trim restriction, so the color costs the same whether it's on a $40,000 GT or a Hellcat — and going by the past two months, it probably won't stay the newest shade for long.
