Jeep's $4,995 Wrangler JL-2A Costs Just $115 More Than a Comparable Rubicon
The 11th of 12 Twelve 4 Twelve drops turns the Rubicon into a Willys CJ-2A tribute with a first-for-Wrangler tan-and-brown cabin. Orders open in October; Jeep hasn't said how many it will build.
Jeep has put a price on the 2027 Wrangler JL-2A, the 11th of 12 special editions in its yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve series, and the number that matters isn't the $4,995 package MSRP but the $115 Jeep says the package adds over a Rubicon equipped the same way, which means nearly the entire sticker is content a buyer would otherwise be paying for anyway.
The JL-2A is a tribute to the Willys CJ-2A, the first Jeep built for civilians rather than the Army. It's an appearance-and-equipment package on the Wrangler Rubicon, not a new model, and the drivetrain is untouched. Orders open in October, according to Stellantis.
Where the money goes
Standard equipment covers the Convenience Group (remote start, auto-dimming mirror, and a garage-door opener) and a front TrailCam with its own washer. On the outside, the package adds 17-inch retro-style wheels painted Joose orange, 33-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, orange tow hooks front and rear, body-color fender flares and three-piece hardtop, and dark gray accents on the seven-slot grille.
Gobi headlines the two-door, a tan Jeep ties to the CJ-2A's Harvest Tan, while the four-door gets '41, the brand's olive green. Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost, and Joose are also offered. Jeep hasn't said whether the two body styles differ in anything beyond color.
The cabin is where the package does the most work. Nappa Heritage Tan leather on the seats pairs with Bison Brown door panels and console, a combination Jeep says has never been offered on a Wrangler, with Desert Orange stitching that picks up the wheel color and a satin-chrome Willys-Overland medallion on the shifter.
The swing gate carries a plaque that reproduces the CJ-2A's dashboard data plate, farm-and-factory artwork included.
Pricing follows the series pattern
That $115 gap fits how Jeep has priced the later drops. The Smoky Mountain edition revealed in August was pitched at $80 above a "popularly equipped" Wrangler Willys, and last December's Whitecap ran from $495 on a Rubicon X to $3,185 on a Rubicon. These read as bundles of existing options with unique trim on top, not premium-priced collectibles.
What Jeep hasn't given is the full price of the truck. For reference, a 2026 two-door Rubicon lists at $45,815 before a $1,995 destination charge, per Cars.com, but 2027 Rubicon pricing hasn't been published, and "similarly equipped" implies options above base. Real numbers should arrive with the October order guide.
The original CJ-2A went into production at Willys-Overland's Toledo, Ohio, plant in July 1945, adapted from the military MB with a tailgate, a rear power take-off for farm implements, larger headlights, and the seven-slot grille that still defines the brand. Factory color pairs such as Harvest Tan with Sunset Red wheels are the direct source of the JL-2A's tan-and-orange scheme. The Wrangler is still built in Toledo.
Branden Coté, who took over as Jeep brand CEO on August 3, framed the edition as bringing the CJ-2A story "full circle."
Jeep hasn't disclosed a build count or a production and delivery timeline. The Twelve 4 Twelve series started with the Moab 392 in November 2025 and has delivered a new Wrangler on or around the 12th of each month since, which puts the 12th and final drop in October. Jeep hasn't hinted at what it will be.
