Bentley Torcal First Edition Pairs 876 HP With Power Doors and Naim Audio

The launch edition of Bentley's first EV uses the 876-hp Torcal S powertrain and bundles powered doors, a switchable sunroof, and 28-speaker Naim audio as standard.

Bentley has spelled out what buyers get with the Torcal First Edition, the launch version of its first electric car. The short answer: the most powerful version of the drivetrain, bundled with a long list of design pieces and cabin features that Bentley otherwise sells one at a time.

When Bentley showed a Torcal S First Edition at its New York gallery event earlier this month, the company hadn't explained what the badge meant. A release issued from Crewe on October 22 fills that gap, though it still leaves out price and production numbers.

The First Edition gets the top Torcal powertrain, rated at 888 PS (876 hp) and 1,350 Nm (996 lb-ft). Bentley quotes 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds and a 162-mph top speed. Those match the Torcal S figures in our breakdown of the Torcal's specs, so the edition adds no extra performance. It simply locks in the quicker car.

Wheels, carbon, and quilting

Outside, the edition rides on its own 22-inch wheels, finished in gloss black with Liquid Silver spokes and self-leveling center badges. The brake calipers are painted Graphene Grey by Bentley's Mulliner division. A Carbon Fibre Styling Specification adds carbon winglets to the front bumper, along with carbon mirror caps, side sills, and a rear diffuser. A First Edition badge sits on the front fender.

Inside, the seats get bespoke quilting with contrasting chevrons, and the illuminated door treadplates carry First Edition script. Buyers also get an expanded Colour Specification with more color splits, two of them from Mulliner, eight accent colors, and the option of a third interior color. Gloss carbon trim is standard, and Bentley says other finishes cost nothing extra.

The equipment list is the real story

Most of the value is in hardware that is normally optional. The First Edition includes powered front and rear doors, the Frosted Diamond Switchable Sunroof, Wellness front seats, and a Rear Comfort Seat Specification that ventilates the two outer rear seats and adds comfort headrests. Deep-pile overmats round out the cabin.

The biggest jump is the audio. Every Torcal comes with a 16-speaker, 620-watt Bentley Signature Audio system, according to eCoustics. The First Edition swaps in the 1,780-watt, 28-speaker Naim for Bentley setup, which adds seat-mounted transducers, front headrest speakers, and Dolby Atmos 7.1.4.

Power doors are spreading fast at this price level. Porsche, whose Cayenne Electric shares the Torcal's 113-kWh battery, made them an option on the 2027 Cayenne Electric. Launch editions are becoming standard practice for luxury EVs, too: Range Rover sells its first EV in a First Edition offered in three colors.

What Bentley hasn't said

The release includes no price, no production cap, and no order window. For reference, Bentley's head of product communications, Mike Sayer, told WardsAuto that the Torcal S will start at $258,000 in the U.S. Given the bundled equipment, the First Edition is likely to cost more, but Bentley hasn't confirmed that.

EPA range is also still missing. Bentley says EU range and energy-use figures are pending type approval, and it hasn't given a date for U.S. deliveries.
