The 2027 Cayenne Electric Is the First Porsche With Power-Operated Doors

Porsche's electric SUV becomes the brand's first model with power-operated doors, adds a music-synced massage system, and opens up 105 paint choices — at unchanged prices.

Porsche will now sell you a Cayenne that opens and closes its own doors. For the 2027 model year, the Cayenne Electric gains optional power-operated doors — a first for any Porsche — plus a new music-linked massage system and access to the Paint to Sample color program, with no price increase attached.

The doors activate with a brief pull on the handle, after which servo motors finish the opening or closing motion on all four of them. They respond to buttons in the cabin, the door handles, the PCM infotainment display, and the Porsche Digital Key, and the driver's door can close itself when the driver buckles the seat belt or presses the brake pedal. Sensors watch the area around the car and halt the movement if a person or obstacle is in the way, the system works on inclines, and it links to the exit warning function so a door stays shut when traffic approaches from behind. Manual operation remains available at all times.

Power doors have been migrating down from the ultra-luxury tier for several years. Rolls-Royce made them a signature, BMW brought the feature to the 7 Series and i7 before adding it to the new X5 this summer, Audi offers it on the latest Q7, and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has powered doors at all four positions. The Cayenne Electric makes Porsche the latest brand to join in.

The other headline option is a massage system built around what Porsche calls 4D audio. Each front seat carries 16 air cushions and six sound actuators in the backrest and cushion, and the actuators pulse in time with whatever is playing. Five programs are offered, with adjustable intensity and selectable vibration settings, and the audio function can run on its own with the massage switched off. Three new Wellness Mood Modes bundle massage, vibration, and curated soundscapes into one-touch presets.

On the design side, the Cayenne Electric joins the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur Paint to Sample program, stretching the palette from 13 standard and optional colors to 105 in total. Porsche hasn't quoted Paint to Sample pricing for the Cayenne Electric, but the program typically adds a five-figure premium on the company's other model lines. Inside, a new Extended Package Interior Style adds leather-trimmed surfaces with Delgada Green stitching, while leather and Race-Tex seat consoles and Race-Tex door sill panels round out the options list.

The updates arrive less than a year after the Cayenne Electric's debut in November 2025. The base model produces 402 hp, the 536-hp Cayenne S Electric slotted into the range earlier this year, and the Turbo Electric tops out at 1,139 hp with launch control — enough for a claimed 2.4-second run to 60 mph and the title of most powerful production Porsche yet.

All 2027 prices carry over unchanged from 2026, excluding a $2,350 destination charge:

  • Cayenne Electric SUV: $109,000
  • Cayenne Electric Coupe: $113,800
  • Cayenne S Electric SUV: $126,300
  • Cayenne S Electric Coupe: $131,200
  • Cayenne Turbo Electric SUV: $163,000
  • Cayenne Turbo Electric Coupe: $168,000
