Kia Prices the 2027 Sorento Hybrid From $39,090 and Adds a Cheaper X-Line
Every hybrid trim rises by $200, the destination charge climbs by $50, and a new X-Line EX puts the blacked-out look $4,500 below the top trim. The gap to the gas EX is now just $400.

Kia has priced the 2027 Sorento Hybrid, and it follows the same script as the gas-only pricing Kia published two weeks ago: every carryover trim costs $200 more than last year. The hybrid now starts at $39,090 for the EX with front-wheel drive, before a destination charge that has risen by $50 to $1,495.
The bigger news is a new entry point to the blacked-out look. The X-Line EX, priced at $43,090 with standard all-wheel drive, pairs gloss-black wheels and exterior accents with the regular EX's equipment, and all X-Line versions get machined wood trim on the dash and doors. That puts the rugged styling $4,500 below the X-Line SX-Prestige, which was the only way to get it on the 2026 hybrid.
2027 Kia Sorento Hybrid prices by trim
- EX FWD: $39,090
- EX AWD: $40,890
- X-Line EX AWD: $43,090
- X-Line SX-Prestige AWD: $47,590
Add destination and the range runs from $40,585 to $49,085. The top trim is up $400 rather than $200, which buys a head-up display that is now standard, on top of the panoramic sunroof, Bose audio, and second-row captain's chairs it already had. Kia also swaps Steel Gray paint for Pale Gray and adds HEV badges to the tailgate.

The hybrid premium has nearly vanished
Compare the two versions of the same trim and the case for the gas engine gets thin. A gas Sorento EX with front-wheel drive is $38,690, so the hybrid EX costs just $400 more. On all-wheel-drive EX models the gap is $700, and the X-Line EX is only $100 apart in either form.
For that money, the hybrid trades the turbocharged 2.5-liter's 274 hp for a 1.6-liter turbo four paired with an electric motor, good for 227 hp through a six-speed automatic. The 2026 model's EPA ratings, which Kia hasn't updated for 2027, were 37 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 34 mpg with all-wheel drive, against 25 mpg or less for the turbocharged gas models.

Buyers have already worked that out. Kia said Sorento Hybrid sales rose 112 percent in September as part of Kia's record third quarter, and hybrids were the main reason the brand's gas-electric lineup outgrew its EVs.
Where it sits against Santa Fe and Highlander
The closest rival is in the same family. Hyundai's Santa Fe Hybrid uses a related 231-hp powertrain and starts at $36,400 for the SE trim, according to Edmunds, which undercuts the Sorento by about $2,700 because Kia doesn't offer a hybrid below the EX. Toyota's Highlander Hybrid, now all-wheel drive only, starts at $47,020, roughly $6,000 above a Sorento Hybrid EX AWD. The Sorento is also a size down from the larger three-row hybrids such as the Telluride Hybrid and Grand Highlander.
One footnote worth noting: Kia lists the gas Sorento among the models it assembles in the United States, and the hybrid is explicitly excluded. That means the Sorento Hybrid remains an import, which makes its $200 increase look restrained next to what tariff exposure could have justified.

Kia hasn't published updated fuel-economy figures or a dealer-arrival date for the 2027 hybrid, and the release says nothing about the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid, which is still without 2027 pricing.
