MINI Countryman Untamed Edition Gets a Lift, All-Terrain Tires and a $43,900 Price

The $43,900 Countryman S ALL4 Untamed Edition arrives in the U.S. with a lift, all-terrain tires and a 3,500-pound hitch as standard — hardware Europe rations.

MINI has given its biggest model an outdoor-themed makeover, and American buyers get more of the hardware than Europeans do. Every Countryman Untamed Edition sold in the U.S. comes with a suspension lift, Pirelli all-terrain tires, and a factory trailer hitch, and the gas Countryman S ALL4 version starts at $43,900 before a $1,350 destination charge.

The edition follows the $36,875 MINI 1998 GT Edition, which opened for U.S. pre-orders in September. Where the GT borrows John Cooper Works parts to sit lower and sharper, the Untamed goes the other way.

What the U.S. version gets

The starting point is a 15 mm (0.6-inch) suspension lift. Together with the new wheel and tire package, MINI says it raises ground clearance by up to 19 mm (about 0.75 inch), depending on market and powertrain, and improves approach and breakover angles. ABS, stability control, and steering have been recalibrated for the taller ride and the off-road rubber.

That rubber is the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus, mounted on 19-inch wheels with chunky five-spoke styling. In the U.S. and Canada, both the lift and the all-terrain tires are standard on every Untamed. In Europe, the lift is reserved for the electric versions, and the all-terrain tires are an extra-cost option.

U.S. cars also get a factory-installed hitch rated to tow 3,500 pounds. MINI rates the roof for 165 pounds on the move and 661 pounds when parked, and it is pitching the edition alongside a hard-shell roof tent built in Italy by AUTOHOME and a camping collection of folding chairs and tables from HELINOX. Both are sold separately, and MINI hasn't announced U.S. pricing for either.

Two versions are headed to America: the gas Countryman S ALL4 Untamed Edition and the electric SE ALL4 Untamed Edition. Outside, both get Dark Steel trim on the grille surround, badges, and underbody guards, textured matte black film on the wheel arches, sills, and hood, and a mountain-motif Untamed logo on the C-pillar. Inside, there are blue Vescin sport seats with Cornflower Blue accents and rubber all-weather mats.

The U.S. price sheet lists two edition colors, Hideaway Grey and Nomad Blue, plus Midnight Black and Nanuq White. Frozen Nomad Blue, which MINI calls its first matte paint in series production, appears in the global launch materials but not on the U.S. sheet so far.

How the price stacks up

The $43,900 sticker breaks down into a $38,900 Countryman S ALL4, $3,400 for the Iconic trim with the Comfort Package Plus, and $1,600 for the Untamed content itself. Options include the Comfort Package Max ($900), a universal garage door opener ($250), and a space-saver spare ($300).

That puts the MINI above the mainstream rugged trims it will be shopped against. The 2027 Subaru Forester Wilderness starts at $39,495 plus $1,475 destination and pairs 9.3 inches of ground clearance and all-terrain tires with the same 3,500-pound tow rating, according to Subaru's pricing announcement. The 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland lists at $41,350 including its $1,450 destination fee, according to Kelley Blue Book.

With destination, the MINI comes to $45,250, about $4,300 more than the Forester Wilderness and $3,900 more than the RAV4 Woodland. Larger SUVs are heading the same direction: Honda lifted the 2027 Passport TrailSport 1.4 inches, and Toyota just gave the Grand Highlander Woodland all-terrain tires.

What we don't know yet

Production starts at BMW Group Plant Leipzig in November, and MINI USA says U.S. deliveries begin in early 2027, without naming a month. The company hasn't priced the electric SE ALL4 Untamed, and the release doesn't list output figures for either version.
