Ford Brings Two-Tone Paint Back to the F-150 — but Only Two Trims and One Cab Get It

Ford has added a Two-Tone Package for the 2027 F-150 to its Custom Garage catalog, putting a contrasting band of color back on America's best-selling pickup. The fine print is where it gets narrow: the package fits only XLT and Lariat SuperCrew trucks with the 5.5-foot bed, and Ford hasn't said what it costs.
The package page lists three colors for the band, Oxford White, Carbonized Gray, and Agate Black, and every image pairs them with a dark red truck. Ford describes the stripe as applied with "laser-cut precision" and "exact factory paint matching," and covers it with a supplemental three-year/36,000-mile warranty that runs from the truck's in-service date, the same length as the F-150's own bumper-to-bumper coverage.
What the page doesn't say is whether the band is paint laid down at the plant or a paint-matched film, and whether it's installed on the line or by a dealer. Custom Garage packages can go either way under Ford's program rules, and this week's coverage has split on the point, so treat any specific answer as unconfirmed until Ford spells it out.
Who can actually order one
Ford's fitment line is precise: 2027 model-year XLT and Lariat, SuperCrew cab, 5.5-foot box, 145-inch wheelbase. That's the volume configuration, but it leaves out a lot of trucks: no SuperCab, no 6.5-foot bed, no XL, and nothing above Lariat, so King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor, and Raptor buyers are out. Ford also hasn't said whether the package can be retrofitted to a 2027 truck already in a driveway or must be specified with a new order.
The timing tracks the 2027 F-150's mid-cycle refresh, which arrived in September with hands-free BlueCruise towing, a larger standard EcoBoost, and a returning V8. Ford has published 2027 prices for some trims but not yet for the XLT, so the cheapest two-tone truck doesn't have a sticker either. The package page ends with a "Contact Dealer" button rather than an order date.
What it might cost, and what came before
Ford doesn't post prices for any Custom Garage package online; dealers quote them. The closest official yardstick is the $4,195 Carhartt package, which is limited to the XLT SuperCrew 4x4 and takes that truck to $62,660 before destination. Ford has told outlets, including Motor1, that Two-Tone pricing will be confirmed closer to first deliveries.
Ford's page pitches the package as a callback to the 1970s and '80s, when two-tone F-Series trucks were common. But the look hasn't been gone that long. For the 2023 model year Ford sold an F-150 Heritage Edition to mark 75 years of F-Series, XLT only, with five combinations that put Carbonized Gray or Agate Black on the roof, pillars, and lower body and the main color in the middle, as Autoblog reported at its reveal. The new package flips that layout: the body color covers the roof, hood, and rockers, and the contrasting band runs through the middle.
The open questions are the ones that decide whether this is a $1,000 option or a $5,000 one: the price, the order date, whether any base color other than red is eligible, and whether Ford extends the band to other cabs and trims. The company has told buyers to talk to a dealer; we'll update this story when it posts a number.
