Xiaomi SkyNomad Launch Prices Undercut Pre-Sale by Up to $4,500

Xiaomi put its first extended-range SUVs on sale in China on Monday, and the launch prices came in below what buyers were asked to reserve against in July. The five-seat SkyNomad N70 Max now costs 239,900 yuan, 20,000 yuan under its pre-sale price, and the seven-seat N90 Max drops 30,000 yuan to 269,900 yuan.

A new entry model, the N70 Pro, opens the range at 209,900 yuan, a figure Xiaomi now shows on its official N70 page. At today's rate of about 6.71 yuan to the dollar, that works out to roughly $31,300 for the Pro, $35,800 for the N70 Max, and $40,200 for the N90 Max. The pre-sale cuts equal about $3,000 and $4,500. None of these cars is headed to the US, so the dollar figures are for scale, not a sticker.

What the money buys

The N70 Pro pairs a single 282-hp (210 kW) motor with a 52-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. Xiaomi rates it at 218 miles (351 km) of electric range on China's CLTC cycle and 840 miles (1,351 km) with a full tank, with 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds. Once the battery is depleted, the company quotes 41 mpg (5.7 L/100 km) on the WLTC cycle.

The N70 Max moves to dual-motor all-wheel drive with 416 hp (310 kW), a 76-kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt pack, and standard air springs with adaptive dampers. Electric range rises to 314 miles (505 km) CLTC, combined range to 908 miles (1,461 km), and the 0–62 mph time falls to 5.5 seconds.

The 208-inch N90 Max shares the Max powertrain and 76-kWh battery but seats seven in a 2+2+3 layout. Its CLTC ratings are 288 miles (464 km) electric and 1,059 miles (1,705 km) combined, the headline number since July, with 0–62 mph in 5.9 seconds. It also adds a rear-facing solid-state lidar to the roof-mounted unit fitted to every SkyNomad.

All versions run a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender, and all come standard with lidar and Xiaomi's HAD driver-assistance suite on an Nvidia Drive Thor chip rated at 700 TOPS. Xiaomi quotes 18 minutes for a 20-to-80 percent charge across the lineup.

The surprise was a fourth version. The N90 Max Explorer Edition, at 299,900 yuan (about $44,700), trades the third row for a factory-fitted power pop-top roof that lifts interior height to 2,294 mm, plus fold-flat rear seats and floor heating. It gives up a little range, at 287 miles (462 km) electric and 1,049 miles (1,688 km) combined on CLTC, and Xiaomi says the roof is only for use parked off public roads.

Why the prices moved

The cuts are about 7.7 percent on the N70 Max and 10 percent on the N90 Max, by CnEVPost's count, and they land the cars in specific spots. The N70 Max is now 10,000 yuan under Li Auto's new L6, which went on sale in July at 249,800 yuan (about $37,200). The N90 Max sits roughly 70,000 yuan below Tesla's six-seat Model Y L in China.

Xiaomi also needs the volume. CEO Lei Jun said on Monday that cumulative deliveries have passed 800,000 vehicles, but CnEVPost's tally puts the company at about 45 percent of its 550,000-unit target for 2026 after eight months, which implies close to 76,000 deliveries a month through December. The SU7 and YU7 alone haven't gotten there.

The segment isn't growing, either. Retail sales of extended-range EVs in China fell about 15 percent year over year in the first seven months of 2026, according to China Passenger Car Association data cited by CnEVPost. Lei has argued the category still has room, pointing to Li Auto's results.

Launch buyers of the N70 Pro get a free front-seat upgrade plus vouchers worth 8,000 yuan toward wheels and 3,000 yuan toward paint, according to Chinese outlet IT Home.

What Xiaomi hasn't said: when each version starts deliveries, how many orders the launch pulled in, or whether SkyNomad is part of the European entry it has scheduled for 2027. The German dealer agreements signed last week cover Xiaomi's EVs, and the company hasn't extended that plan to the range extenders.
