The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Gets Loaded Up — and the 4xe Is Still Gone

The Sahara gains Alpine audio, navigation, and blind-spot monitoring as standard, the Rubicon gets heated seats, and six paints arrive. Prices and a plug-in hybrid are both missing.

Jeep has detailed the 2027 Wrangler, and most of the news is standard equipment. The Sahara picks up a long list of features, the Rubicon gets heated seats and a heated steering wheel, and six paints join the color chart. What the model-year rundown doesn't include is a plug-in hybrid, or any prices.

Orders are open now, according to Jeep's 2027 Wrangler rundown, and production stays at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio. The update follows a year of monthly special editions that closed with the Twelve 4 Twelve finale, the Wrangler Switchback.

The Sahara does most of the gaining

The Sahara, now listed as a four-door only, comes standard with McKinley-trimmed seats, side steps, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, built-in navigation, and rear park assist. Jeep also adds blind-spot and cross-path detection, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic high beams, a universal garage door opener, and the front-facing TrailCam off-road camera.

That is a lot of former option content in one trim. The catch is that Jeep hasn't published 2027 pricing, so there is no way yet to tell whether the extra kit comes with a bigger sticker or simply replaces packages buyers used to pay for.

The Rubicon gains heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and embedded navigation as standard. Further down, the Sport, Sport S, and Willys get a 7-inch color instrument cluster, the Sport S and Willys add passive entry, and the two-door Willys picks up the vented power dome hood the four-door already had.

Three engines, no plug

  • 2.0-liter turbo four: 270 hp and 295 lb-ft, eight-speed automatic only
  • 3.6-liter V-6: 285 hp and 260 lb-ft, six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic
  • 6.4-liter V-8: 470 hp and 470 lb-ft, eight-speed automatic only

The 4xe isn't on the list. Jeep's release doesn't mention the plug-in at all; it simply isn't part of the 2027 lineup. That follows the decision Stellantis confirmed in January to phase out its plug-in hybrid programs in North America starting with the 2026 model year, a move that also ended the Grand Cherokee 4xe and the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in, Electrek reported. A company spokesperson pointed to shifting customer demand and said Stellantis would focus on hybrids and range-extended vehicles instead.

It is a quiet exit for a powertrain that, per the same report, was America's best-selling plug-in hybrid for three straight years after its 2021 launch. Jeep's electrified push now runs through models like the hybrid 2027 Cherokee rather than the Wrangler.

The gap shows against the Bronco. Ford is making its 3.0-liter V6 available on three more 2027 trims at 380 hp, as detailed in our look at the 2027 Bronco's V6. The Wrangler offers nothing between its 285-hp V-6 and the 470-hp V-8.

Six paints, and the specials stay

Gobi, Sting Gray, Hella Yella, and limited-edition Fathom Blue join the palette, and Jeep calls Ghost and limited-edition Gum 31 first-ever colors. All six arrive later in the model year. Black is still the only interior color listed.

Five Twelve 4 Twelve editions carry over into 2027: the Moab 392, Willys 392, Whitecap, Rewind, and Rockslide. The rundown doesn't name the Switchback or the JL-2A tribute edition, though Jeep had already announced both as 2027 models.

What Jeep hasn't said

Prices, for every trim from the Sport to the Moab 392. Until the 2027 order guide surfaces, buyers can spec a new Wrangler but can't see what the Sahara's added equipment costs, or whether the cheaper trims moved at all.
