Audi A6 e-tron Drives 831 Miles on One Charge, Taking Lucid's Guinness Record
Rally champion Miko Marczyk spent more than 45 hours draining the battery on Polish roads, beating the Lucid Air's 749-mile mark by 83 miles.
An Audi A6 Sportback e-tron has driven 1,338 km (831 miles) on a single charge, taking the Guinness World Records title from the Lucid Air Grand Touring by 133 km (83 miles). Getting there took more than 45 hours of very patient driving on Polish public roads.
The driver was Miko Marczyk, the reigning European Rally Champion. Audi says he averaged 7.09 kWh per 100 km over the run. That's about 11.4 kWh per 100 miles, or nearly 8.8 miles per kWh.
Two days, one battery
Marczyk set off at 1:55 a.m. on September 11. Polish outlets report the start was in Zakopane, in the Tatra Mountains, so the car could bank the descent toward Kraków. The route then followed the Vistula River north via Warsaw and Toruń to the town of Hel on the Baltic coast, before doubling back on the same roads.
The car finally rolled to a stop between Toruń and Ciechocinek. Audi says the drive ran in regular traffic, often at rush hour, at an average of 15°C (59°F), with lows of 7°C (45°F). A Guinness adjudicator ratified the result. Volkswagen Financial Services, which counts Marczyk as a brand ambassador, backed the attempt.
Spread over 45-plus hours, the distance works out to an average below 30 km/h (19 mph). This was a hypermiling exercise, not a road trip. It also drained the pack almost to the last watt-hour: 1,338 km at 7.09 kWh/100 km equals roughly 95 kWh, which matches the battery's 94.9 kWh of usable capacity.
Why the A6 can do it
The record car is the European-market A6 Sportback e-tron performance, rated at 367 PS (362 hp, 270 kW) and 5.4 seconds from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h). It uses an 800-volt architecture and a 100 kWh gross battery on Audi's Premium Platform Electric. Its WLTP range tops out at 777 km (483 miles), and Marczyk beat that by more than 70%.
Audi points to aerodynamics as the key. With a 0.21 drag coefficient, the Sportback is the most aerodynamic Audi ever built, the company says, and drag accounts for about 40% of its energy use in the WLTP cycle. Regeneration of up to 220 kW covers roughly 95% of everyday braking, according to the automaker.
The previous record holder is a very different car. Lucid's Air Grand Touring covered 1,205 km (749 miles) between St. Moritz, Switzerland, and Munich in July 2025. That car carries an EPA rating of 512 miles, so its run beat the official figure by about 46%.
What it means for US buyers
In the US, the 2027 A6 Sportback e-tron starts at $67,995 including destination. Audi of America rates the rear-drive version at 348 miles, or 395 miles with the Ultra package. Marczyk's distance is more than twice the better of those numbers.
Don't expect to repeat it. US-spec cars differ from the European one, and nobody commutes at 19 mph for two days. The more useful signal is that this platform tends to outperform its ratings in normal driving: Edmunds pushed a rear-drive A6 e-tron to 402 miles in its own range test.
