Nissan Prices the Gas Rogue at $29,690 — $5,800 Below Its New Hybrid Twin
The gas Rogue enters 2027 with a $200 price bump, a retuned CVT, and the same 201-hp VC-Turbo — positioned as the budget path into a lineup that just gained a hybrid.
Nissan will keep selling the gas-powered Rogue alongside its all-new hybrid sibling, and now we know what it costs: the 2027 model starts at $29,690 for the base S with front-wheel drive, plus a $1,575 destination charge.
That makes the gas Rogue the budget path into the lineup by a wide margin. The 2027 Rogue Hybrid announced the same day opens at $35,490, so the entry gap between the two is $5,800. Compare like for like and it narrows: a gas SV AWD runs $32,090 against $35,490 for the hybrid SV, a $3,400 premium for the electrified drivetrain.

Mechanically, this is a carryover year with one tweak. The 201-hp, 1.5-liter VC-Turbo three-cylinder returns unchanged, but Nissan retuned the Xtronic CVT for a smoother, more linear acceleration curve and quicker throttle response. Curiously, the official numbers moved the other way: the 2027 spec sheet lists EPA estimates of 28/33/30 mpg for front-drive models and 27/32/29 with AWD, while Nissan quoted up to 29/36/32 mpg for the mid-year 2026.5 car. The company doesn't address the drop in its materials.

The trim walk is familiar: S, SV, Rock Creek, Dark Armor, and Platinum. Rock Creek remains the outdoorsy one, with Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, Hill Descent Control, a tubular roof rack, a 12-volt outlet in the cargo area, and an around-view camera with a dedicated off-road view. Dark Armor handles the blacked-out look with gloss black trim, 19-inch black wheels, and satin black roof rails.

Pricing has been creeping rather than jumping. The 2026 Rogue opened at $29,090, the mid-year 2026.5 update moved that to $29,490, and 2027 adds another $200. A $600 climb in a year is modest for this market — and the timing works in Nissan's favor, because Toyota dropped gas engines from the RAV4 entirely for 2026, leaving its lineup to start at $31,900 as a hybrid. For buyers who specifically don't want electrification, a $29,690 compact SUV is becoming a rarer thing.
Nissan also leans on its quality argument: the Rogue took the top spot among compact SUVs in the J.D. Power 2026 Initial Quality Study, and the company claims nine out of ten Rogues sold in the past decade are still on the road.

One detail Nissan hasn't shared is an on-sale date for the 2027 gas model. The hybrid's schedule is public — first cars this fall, full range in early 2027 — so expect the gas car in showrooms around the same window, likely sooner.
