2027 Honda Civic Adds a Leather-Lined Sport-L for $28,495 — $1,200 Shy of the Hybrid
The new Sport-L brings leather and heated power seats to the gas Civic for $28,495 before destination. Every carryover trim costs $300 more, and the top hybrid gains the Prelude’s S+ Shift.

Honda has priced the 2027 Civic, and the headline is a trim that didn't exist a year ago. The new Sport-L sedan starts at $28,495 before a $1,295 destination charge ($29,790 with it), and it brings leather, heated power front seats, and dual-zone climate control to a gas-only Civic. Until now, those features required a hybrid.
The spacing is what matters. Sport-L costs $1,500 more than the Sport it's built on and lands $1,200 below the Sport Hybrid, which reshuffles the trim ladder we laid out in our Honda Civic vs. Toyota Corolla comparison.
What the extra $1,500 buys
According to Honda's 2027 Civic announcement, Sport-L adds leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and silver interior trim, all previously reserved for the Sport Touring Hybrid. Heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, illuminated vanity mirrors, and a passenger seatback pocket come over from the hybrid trims.
That drops the price of a leather-lined Civic by $4,200: the Sport Touring Hybrid starts at $32,695.

Nothing changes under the hood. Sport-L keeps the 2.0-liter four-cylinder and CVT, and Honda quotes the same EPA ratings as the Sport: 31 mpg city, 39 highway, and 34 combined for the sedan. The hatchback version starts at $29,695 and is rated at 30/38/34 mpg.
Or spend $1,200 more on the hybrid
The Sport Hybrid sedan starts at $29,695 and is rated at 50/47/49 mpg. That is 15 mpg better in combined driving. Over 15,000 miles a year, the hybrid burns about 135 fewer gallons; at $4 a gallon, that's roughly $540 a year, which covers the $1,200 gap in a little over two years.
The trade-off is the cabin. Honda lists no changes for the Sport Hybrid, so leather and power seats stay with Sport-L and the Sport Touring Hybrid. Buyers are choosing between nicer seats and a much smaller fuel bill, and many have already picked: Honda says hybrids account for more than 30 percent of Civic sales this year.
One quirk of the price sheet: a Sport-L hatchback and a Sport Hybrid sedan carry the same $29,695 sticker.

Every carryover trim is up $300
2027 Civic MSRPs, before the $1,295 destination charge:
- Sedan: LX $24,995; Sport $26,995; Sport-L $28,495; Sport Hybrid $29,695; Sport Touring Hybrid $32,695
- Hatchback: Sport $28,195; Sport-L $29,695; Sport Hybrid $30,895; Sport Touring Hybrid $33,895
Honda's release doesn't compare model years, but its January 2026 price sheet does the job: each returning sedan trim costs $300 more. Destination was $1,195 on that sheet, so a base LX now totals $26,290, up from $25,890.

The Sport Touring Hybrid gets something for its $300. Honda is adding S+ Shift, the drive mode introduced on the 2026 Prelude, which simulates gear changes with rev-matched virtual downshifts, gear holding, and amplified engine sound. It isn't offered on any other Civic trim. For the real thing with a clutch pedal, there's the 2027 Civic Type R at $49,990.

Honda says 2027 Civics are reaching dealers now. Sport-L follows "by the end of the year"; the company hasn't given a firmer date. The hatchback is built in Greensburg, Indiana, and the sedan in Alliston, Ontario.
