Kia Prices the 2027 Sportage From $28,990 and Keeps It Well Under the RAV4 and CR-V
Every gas Sportage trim moves up $200 for 2027. The X-Line rises $1,700 on paper, but only because a $1,500 option package is now standard equipment.
Kia has priced the gas-only 2027 Sportage from $28,990 before a $1,495 destination charge, a $200 increase across every trim. The one real change is at the X-Line, which now comes standard with the panoramic sunroof and hands-free power liftgate that were a $1,500 option on the 2026 model.
Kia's own description of the update is "carryover," and the numbers back that up. Every trim except X-Line moves exactly $200: the LX AWD and EX FWD both land at $30,790, the SX FWD at $34,590, the SX-Prestige at $36,590 (FWD) and $38,390 (AWD), and the X-Pro AWD tops the range at $39,890. Destination is unchanged at $1,495, so the cheapest 2027 Sportage is $30,485 out the door before options.
The X-Line math
The X-Line AWD jumps from $33,090 to $34,790, a $1,700 increase on paper. But a 2026 X-Line with the Premium Package, which added the sunroof and Smart Power Liftgate, cost $34,590, so buyers who wanted those features are also paying $200 more, not $1,700. Kia says the change puts the gas X-Line on the same standard-equipment footing as the Sportage Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid X-Line trims, so the choice between powertrains doesn't come with an equipment penalty.
The X-Line also gets a new Road Rider Brown exterior color, available with a two-tone roof. The rest of the lineup carries over the 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic, and Kia hasn't announced fuel economy changes.
Where it sits
A $200 bump keeps the Sportage well under its two main rivals. Honda's 2026 CR-V starts at $32,315 including destination for a gas LX, about $1,830 more than the Sportage. Toyota's redesigned 2026 RAV4 is hybrid-only and starts at $33,350 with destination, according to Kelley Blue Book, which leaves Kia and Honda as the only two of the three still selling a sub-$31,000 gas compact SUV.
That gap is the Sportage's argument. Kia's gas version doesn't match the RAV4's standard 226-hp hybrid or the CR-V's newly standard wireless CarPlay across all trims, but it holds a price advantage that has widened as competitors have pushed hybrids down-market. For buyers who want electrification, Kia sells the Sportage Hybrid separately, starting near $30,500 with destination per Edmunds.
Kia hasn't published 2027 pricing for the Sportage Hybrid or Plug-in Hybrid yet. The gas and hybrid Sportage are assembled in the U.S., a detail Kia includes in the fine print of the release.
