2027 Nissan Altima Starts at $27,790 — Still No Hybrid, Still Cheaper Than a Camry

Nissan’s midsize sedan carries over with a $210 bump and a thinner lineup: the SV AWD and two SR packages are gone. The gas-only Altima stays $1,910 under the hybrid-only Camry.

Nissan has put the 2027 Altima on sale at $27,790 before destination, a $210 increase on last year's car, and it remains the cheapest way into a Japanese midsize sedan. The 2027 Toyota Camry starts at $29,700, and Honda's Accord LX opens at $28,395, so the Altima undercuts both without touching its engine, its trims, or its 36-mpg highway rating.

What has changed is the lineup. The Nissan release lists three versions: SV front-wheel drive at $27,790, SR front-wheel drive at $29,190, and SR with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive at $30,690. Destination adds $1,275 to each, which puts the cheapest Altima at $29,065 out the door before tax and title.

What's gone for 2027

A year ago, Nissan's 2026 Altima price sheet showed four versions. The SV AWD, which cost $29,080, has been dropped, so all-wheel drive is now an SR-only option. Two SR packages have disappeared as well: the $2,000 Midnight Edition and the $3,400 SR Premium Package no longer appear on the options list, while the SV Special Edition ($1,300) and SV Premium Package ($3,000) carry over.

Nissan's own press kit describes the result as a "streamlined gradewalk." The $210 increase applies evenly to all three survivors, and the destination charge is unchanged at $1,275. Nissan hasn't said whether any standard equipment was added or removed to justify the bump.

Under the hood, nothing moves. Every 2027 Altima uses the same 2.5-liter direct-injection four-cylinder with a CVT, rated at 188 hp with front-wheel drive and 182 hp with AWD. Nissan quotes up to 26 mpg city and 36 mpg highway for front-drive cars and 25/33 mpg with AWD. There is still no hybrid, and nothing in the release suggests one is coming.

How it stacks up against Camry and Accord

The gap to the Camry is now $1,910 before destination, but the two cars are selling different things. Toyota went hybrid-only with the current Camry, which starts at 225 hp and carries a 51-mpg combined estimate on the base LE. The Altima's 36-mpg highway figure is competitive with the gas Accord but nowhere near the Toyota, and our Camry vs. Accord Hybrid cost-to-own comparison shows how quickly that fuel-economy gap eats a sticker advantage.

Against the Accord, the picture is closer. Honda's gas-only LX is priced at $28,395 plus $1,195 destination, or $29,590 all in, according to Honda's 2026 Accord release. That leaves the Altima SV $525 cheaper once both cars include destination. Honda's 1.5-liter turbo makes 192 hp and is EPA-rated at 29/37 mpg, slightly ahead of the Nissan on both counts. Honda hasn't published 2027 Accord pricing yet.

Where the Altima pushes back is equipment. Safety Shield 360, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Remote Engine Start are standard on both trims, with an 8-inch screen on the SV and a 12.3-inch unit on the SR. ProPILOT Assist remains an option. The SR adds 19-inch wheels, paddle shifters, and a sport-tuned suspension on front-drive cars. Nissan also claims more front legroom than either the Camry or the Accord, and a 15.4-cubic-foot trunk with a 60/40 split rear seat.

The timing follows the pattern Nissan set with the 2027 Rogue, which also landed with a modest increase and no mechanical changes. For the Altima, holding the line under $28,000 while the lineup thins looks like a deliberate choice: let the Camry and Accord chase hybrid buyers, and keep the cheapest gas midsize sedan from a Japanese brand in the showroom.

The EPA hasn't yet posted official 2027 ratings on fueleconomy.gov, and Nissan hasn't commented on the Altima's future beyond this model year.
