Limited-Run 2027 WRX and BRZ Editions Debut at Boxerfest — Here's What History Says to Expect
Subaru has confirmed little beyond the date. Last year's Series.Yellow cars, 350 of each built on tS trims, are the best clue to what's coming.
Subaru is bringing two new limited-production sports cars to Pennsylvania this weekend. The company says special editions of the 2027 WRX and 2027 BRZ will make their public debut on Sunday, September 27, at Boxerfest 2026 at the York Fairgrounds.
That's close to everything Subaru has said. Its September 22 announcement describes both cars only as limited-production editions aimed at enthusiasts. There are no names, build numbers, prices, colors, or hardware details yet. Those are expected at the show.
Last year's playbook
Subaru ran nearly the same sequence in 2025. It announced the WRX and BRZ Series.Yellow on September 11 and rolled both cars out three days later at the same York event. Production was capped at 350 units per model.
Neither car got new mechanical hardware. Both were built on their lineup's top tS trim. The WRX version kept the 271-hp turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four, all-wheel drive, adjustable dampers, and Brembo brakes. The BRZ kept its 228-hp naturally aspirated 2.4-liter and rear-wheel drive. Each came only with a six-speed manual. What set them apart was Sunrise Yellow paint, matte black wheels, and yellow interior stitching.
The price premium was small. The BRZ Series.Yellow started at $39,360 when Subaru priced it on September 24, 2025. The WRX Series.Yellow wasn't priced until January 2026, at $45,995. That was $1,000 more than the WRX tS it was based on. Neither figure includes destination.
What that suggests, and what it doesn't
If Subaru sticks to that template, Sunday's cars would again be small-batch appearance packages on tS models. That's our reading of the pattern, not something Subaru has said. Last year's announcement listed the build count, base trim, and color days before the show. This year's lists none of that, so the formula could change.
The BRZ side at least has a baseline. The 2027 lineup starts at $36,140 for the Limited and $38,770 for the tS, plus $1,245 destination, according to Subaru's June pricing release. Subaru hasn't yet published 2027 WRX pricing, so Sunday's sedan may double as an early look at next year's WRX.
