The Kia K5 Loses Its Priciest Trim but Still Starts Under $28,000
Kia's midsize sedan is down to three trims, each $200 pricier, while the GT-Line picks up an optional package with ventilated seats.

Kia is trimming the K5 lineup to three models for 2027. The range-topping EX is gone, and the LXS, GT-Line, and GT each cost $200 more than before, with the cheapest K5 now listed at $27,690 before destination.
That still makes the base K5 one of the least expensive ways into a mainstream midsize sedan. Kia's destination charge stays at $1,245, the same figure it quoted for the 2026 model.
- K5 LXS FWD: $27,690
- K5 GT-Line FWD: $28,690
- K5 GT-Line AWD: $30,290
- K5 GT: $33,790
The EX had been the priciest K5 at $34,990, according to Kia's 2026 pricing announcement. With it gone, the lineup now tops out with the 290-hp GT, and the highest K5 sticker drops by $1,200.
Otherwise, Kia describes the 2027 car as largely unchanged. The main addition is an optional convenience package for the GT-Line with ventilated seats, a memory function for the driver's seat, and power-folding side mirrors. Kia hasn't said what the package costs.

The update puts more comfort equipment within reach on the trim Edmunds already names as the best pick in the range. All-wheel drive remains exclusive to the GT-Line and adds $1,600 to its price. The LXS and GT-Line use a 191-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder, while the GT gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter.

Against its main rivals, the K5 keeps its price advantage. Honda's 2026 Accord LX lists at $28,395 plus a $1,195 destination fee, according to Honda. With delivery included on both, the base K5 comes in $655 cheaper.
The gap to Toyota is wider. The 2027 Camry, now sold only as a hybrid, starts at $29,700 before destination, according to order-guide figures reported by CarsDirect. That puts the entry-level Camry about $2,000 above the K5 LXS. Toyota counters with efficiency: the most frugal 2026 Camry was EPA-rated at 51 mpg combined, and Kia doesn't offer a hybrid K5 in the US.

At the top of the range, the K5 GT's $33,790 sticker lands within $5 of Honda's cheapest hybrid, the $33,795 Accord Sport Hybrid. Buyers at that budget are choosing between turbocharged performance and hybrid fuel economy.
Every K5 comes with 17 standard driver-assistance and collision-avoidance features, Kia says. The automaker hasn't yet announced when 2027 models reach dealers.
