The 2027 Mazda3 Starts at $26,065, Undercutting the Civic, and Keeps Its Manual

The base sedan barely moves, AWD reaches a sub-$30,000 hatchback, and the six-speed manual survives on a single, pricier Premium Plus hatchback.

Mazda has priced the 2027 Mazda3, and the number that matters is $26,065. That's a 2.5 S sedan with the $1,315 destination charge included, which puts it $225 under a base 2027 Honda Civic sedan.

That gap sits right in the price band our Honda Civic vs. Toyota Corolla comparison identified as the last affordable corner of the new-car market. The six-speed manual survives too, but it has moved up the range: it now comes only on the front-drive 2.5 S Premium Plus hatchback, at $33,265 with destination. For 2026, the stick shift was tied to the hatchback-only 2.5 S Premium.

2027 Mazda3 prices, including destination

  • 2.5 S sedan (FWD): $26,065
  • 2.5 S Select Sport (FWD): $27,055 sedan, $28,355 hatchback
  • 2.5 S Preferred (FWD): $28,805 sedan, $29,355 hatchback
  • 2.5 S Preferred hatchback (AWD): $31,305
  • 2.5 S Premium sedan (AWD): $31,730
  • 2.5 S Premium Plus hatchback: $33,265 (manual, FWD), $34,665 (AWD)
  • 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus (AWD): $38,355 sedan, $39,505 hatchback

The figures above add Mazda's $1,315 destination fee ($1,360 in Alaska) to the MSRPs in the company's pricing release. Five premium paint colors cost $595 each.

What you get, and what moved

Every non-turbo Mazda3 uses a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four rated at 186 hp and 186 lb-ft on regular gas, with a six-speed automatic as standard. The turbocharged 2.5 makes 250 hp and 320 lb-ft on 93-octane fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on 87, and comes only with all-wheel drive.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard from the Select Sport up, along with Alexa Built-In, 18-inch black wheels, leatherette seats, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, and heated mirrors. The Preferred adds a power moonroof, an eight-way power driver's seat with memory, heated front seats, and a Qi wireless charger. Neither feature is new to the car; Mazda describes both as spreading across more of the lineup, and the base sedan lists only standard smartphone mirroring.

The bigger structural change is all-wheel drive. It now reaches the Preferred hatchback, which stays under $30,000 before destination, and the new Premium Plus hatchback. The Civic doesn't offer all-wheel drive at any price.

How the price compares

Against Mazda's own 2026 price sheet, revised on May 4, the base sedan's MSRP is up just $100, while destination climbs $80 from $1,235. The entry hatchback rises more sharply. Mazda dropped the $25,650 base 2.5 S hatchback, so the five-door now opens at the Select Sport for $1,390 more.

Honda's 2027 Civic sedan starts at $24,995 plus $1,295 destination, and the new leather-lined Civic Sport-L lands at $29,790. Toyota hasn't announced 2027 Corolla pricing. The 2026 Corolla LE started at $23,920 with destination, so it remains the cheapest of the three.

The Mazda3 follows the same playbook as the 2027 Mazda CX-5, which Mazda held at $29,990: small base-price moves, with more equipment pushed into the middle of the range.

What isn't changing in the US

Fleet News reported that the Mazda3 is losing its Skyactiv-X engine in Britain. That spark-controlled compression-ignition four was never sold in the US, so the American lineup is unaffected.

Mazda hasn't said when 2027 cars reach dealers, and the EPA hasn't posted fuel-economy ratings for the 2027 model yet. With several brands cutting prices where sales are slipping, Mazda is betting a near-flat base price and more standard equipment will be enough.
